Gratitude

Bible-based prayers for “Gratitude”, to read or listen to.

Thank you for every morning

But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

Lord, every morning I open my eyes is a gift from your hand. Before I look at my phone or think about my tasks, I want to say thank you. Thank you for the air, for the night's rest and for the chance to start again. I want to sing of your mercy in the morning, even though yesterday I failed you in many things. Your faithfulness stands firm when mine is weak. Teach me to live this day with my eyes open to your small kindnesses, to take nothing for granted and to treat others with the same patience you have with me. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Psalms 59:16

Thank you for our table

When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.

Good Father, we sit down at the table and recognize that everything on it comes from you. Thank you for the bread, for the hands that worked the land and for those who prepared this meal. Today we will eat our fill, and we want to bless you for the good land you give us; none of this is by chance. Let us not eat in a hurry or with complaints, but with gratitude and joy. Remember the families who don't have enough today, and show us how to share with them. May this table be a place of peace and honest conversation. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Deuteronomy 8:10

Gratitude in hard times

Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

My God, today it is hard for me to see the good around me. There are things that were lost, plans that didn't work out and questions that still have no answer. Even so, I want to thank you. Not because everything is fine, but because you are still good. Your Word invites me to give thanks in everything, and today I do so simply. I thank you for the strength you give me for this day, for the people who are still at my side and for your presence that does not leave me. Give me a heart that can rejoice in you, even with tears in my eyes. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Thank you for salvation

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Heavenly Father, I don't have enough words to thank you for the gift of your Son. Jesus came looking for me when I wasn't looking for you; he bore my sin and gave me a new life. I didn't earn it and I don't deserve it; it is pure grace. Thank you for the forgiveness that cleanses me, for the hope that sustains me and for the promise of being with you forever. May I never grow used to such great news. May my gratitude show in how I speak, in how I serve and in how I forgive others. Thank you, Lord, for your indescribable gift. Through Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen.

2 Corinthians 9:15

Thank you for those I love

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

Lord Jesus, today I bring into your presence the names of the people you have placed in my path. Thank you for my family, for my friends and for the brothers and sisters in faith who walk with me. Every time I remember them, my heart fills with gratitude. Thank you for their hugs, their advice and even their differences, which teach me to love better. Take care of them wherever they are today. Give them health, joy and closeness to you. Help me tell them how much I value them, and not wait until I lose them to realize it. Thank you for loving me through them as well. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Philippians 1:3-4

Thank you for creation

O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

Creator of all things, today I want to stop and look at what you have made. The sky that changes color, the trees, the water, the animals, the rhythm of the seasons. Everything speaks of your wisdom and your care. Forgive the times I walk so fast that I see none of it. Thank you for the beauty around me and for the earth that gives us food. Teach me to care for it as a gift from you and not as something I can use up without thinking. May every beautiful thing I see today lead me to praise you with a simple heart. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
