Morning prayer
Day 14 · Loving whoever I meet
Good morning. Before your day begins, take a pause. Breathe slowly and remember that God is here with you.
Praise
Psalms 136:1-51O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. 2O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever. 3O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever. 4To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever. 5To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.
The Word
1 Corinthians 13:4-74Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Prayer
Loving whoever I meet
God of love, today I will cross paths with many people: my family, my coworkers, neighbors and strangers. I want to treat them with the love you describe in your Word. Give me a love that is patient and kind, that does not envy or boast. Let it not seek its own above all else, let it keep no record of wrongs and let it rejoice in the truth. May I know how to bear, believe and hope even when it is hard. When it is difficult for me to love someone, remind me how you love me. May my gestures, my tone of voice and the way I listen speak of your love. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
For others
Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.
The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6:9-13Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Blessing
Philippians 4:7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
May God be with you today.
