Morning prayer
Day 26 · With zeal and hope
Good morning. Before your day begins, take a pause. Breathe slowly and remember that God is here with you.
Praise
Psalms 146:5-95Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: 6Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: 7Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners: 8The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous: 9The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
The Word
Romans 12:11-1211Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
Prayer
With zeal and hope
Lord of hope, awaken in me a willing spirit. I don't want to live this day half-heartedly or put off what I should do today. Give me enthusiasm to serve you in small things and in great ones. Keep me joyful in hope, even when things are not yet settled. If a difficulty comes today, help me bear it with patience. And may I not forget to pray, not only now, but all through the day. May my life today be a constant and joyful service to you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
For others
Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.
The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6:9-13Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Blessing
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
May God be with you today.
