Morning prayer

Day 18 · Satisfy me with your love

Good morning. Before your day begins, take a pause. Breathe slowly and remember that God is here with you.

Praise

Psalms 36:5-9

5Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. 6Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. 7How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. 8They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. 9For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

The Word

Psalms 90:14
O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Prayer

Satisfy me with your love

Eternal Lord, satisfy me this morning with your mercy. So often I try to fill myself with things that don't satisfy: other people's approval, the news, screens, shopping. Today I want to begin by filling my heart with you. May your love be the first thing I receive and what sustains me until nightfall. Then I will be able to sing and rejoice, not just today, but all my days. Teach me to treasure each day and not to waste the time you give me. May I live with a heart that is satisfied in you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

Hebrews 13:20-21

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

May God be with you today.
