Morning prayer

Day 19 · Refuge on a hard day

Good morning. Before your day begins, take a pause. Breathe slowly and remember that God is here with you.

Praise

Psalms 9:9-11

9The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. 10And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. 11Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.

The Word

Psalms 46:1-2
1To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Prayer

Refuge on a hard day

My refuge, a hard day is beginning, and I have known it since I opened my eyes. There are problems that are too much for me and news that troubles me. You are my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Even if everything around me seems to be shaking, I want to lean on you, for you do not change. I am not asking you to make every difficulty disappear, but to hold me up in the middle of them. Give me serenity to take one step at a time and courage to ask others for help if I need it. With you I can get through this day. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

May God be with you today.
