Evening prayer

Day 10 · I will lie down in peace

Good evening. The day is ending. Breathe slowly, set aside what weighs on you and rest in God's presence.

Praise

Psalms 112:6-8

6Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. 7He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. 8His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

The Word

Psalms 4:8
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Review of the day

Look back on your day with God, unhurried. What can you thank Him for? Is there something you did wrong that you want to place in His hands? What worries you about tomorrow? Tell Him in your own words.

Prayer

I will lie down in peace

Lord, you alone make me dwell in safety. Today there was noise, rushing and hard moments, but now the day is ending and I want to lie down in peace. I don't put my security in the locks on the door or in having everything under control, but in you. You watch over my home, my body and my life. That is why I can close my eyes without fear. Thank you for this bed, for this roof and for the rest you give me. I entrust the whole night to you. May my sleep be deep and restful, and may I get up tomorrow with the energy to serve you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

Romans 15:13

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Rest in peace. God is watching over you.
