Evening prayer
Day 9 · When I can't sleep
Good evening. The day is ending. Breathe slowly, set aside what weighs on you and rest in God's presence.
Praise
Psalms 119:146-149146I cried unto thee; save me, and I shall keep thy testimonies. 147I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word. 148Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word. 149Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O LORD, quicken me according to thy judgment.
The Word
Psalms 63:6-76When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. 7Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
Review of the day
Look back on your day with God, unhurried. What can you thank Him for? Is there something you did wrong that you want to place in His hands? What worries you about tomorrow? Tell Him in your own words.
Prayer
When I can't sleep
Lord of my nights, once again I am awake while everyone else is sleeping. The hours pass slowly and my thoughts grow large in the dark. Instead of fighting my sleeplessness, I want to remember you upon my bed. You have been my help so many times; tonight you will be again. I take refuge in the shadow of your wings. Calm my tired body and quiet my mind. If sleep comes, I will receive it as a gift. If it is slow to come, may these hours be spent in your company and not in anguish. And if this keeps happening, give me the courage to seek help. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6:9-13Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Blessing
2 Corinthians 13:13All the saints salute you.
Rest in peace. God is watching over you.
