Evening prayer

Day 2 · Search my day

Good evening. The day is ending. Breathe slowly, set aside what weighs on you and rest in God's presence.

Praise

⁵⁷Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words. ⁵⁸I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word. ⁵⁹I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. ⁶⁰I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.

The Word

Psalms 4:4

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Review of the day

Look back on your day with God, unhurried. What can you thank Him for? Is there something you did wrong that you want to place in His hands? What worries you about tomorrow? Tell Him in your own words.

Prayer

Search my day

God who knows me, in the silence of this night, upon my bed, I place before you everything my day has been. Search my heart with your light. Show me where I acted with love and where I was harsh, impatient or selfish. I don't want to hide from you or fool myself. If there is anything crooked in me, correct it with your kindness. Help me see honestly, without excuses and without despair, because I know you look at me with love. What was good, I offer to you. What was wrong, I place in your hands. Lead me in your way tomorrow. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing
