Evening prayer

Day 22 · Strength for the exhausted

Good evening. The day is ending. Breathe slowly, set aside what weighs on you and rest in God's presence.

Praise

Psalms 84:5-7

5Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. 6Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. 7They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

The Word

Jeremiah 31:25-26
25For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul. 26Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

Review of the day

Look back on your day with God, unhurried. What can you thank Him for? Is there something you did wrong that you want to place in His hands? What worries you about tomorrow? Tell Him in your own words.

Prayer

Strength for the exhausted

Mighty God, today I gave everything I had and now I have almost nothing left. I am worn out from caring, from working, from fixing things. You promise to refresh the weary soul and to replenish everyone who is sorrowful. Tonight I don't offer you energy, only my weakness. Renew my body while I sleep. Repair what has been spent and lift my spirits. Teach me to lean on you and not only on my own effort. Give me sweet and restful sleep, and may I wake tomorrow upheld by your power and not by mine. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

Numbers 6:24-26

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Rest in peace. God is watching over you.
