Evening prayer

Day 30 · My mind fixed on you

Good evening. The day is ending. Breathe slowly, set aside what weighs on you and rest in God's presence.

Praise

¹¹I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. ¹²I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. ¹³Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God? ¹⁴Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

The Word

Isaiah 26:3

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Review of the day

Look back on your day with God, unhurried. What can you thank Him for? Is there something you did wrong that you want to place in His hands? What worries you about tomorrow? Tell Him in your own words.

Prayer

My mind fixed on you

My rock, my mind won't stop. I go over conversations, imagine problems and make endless lists. You promise to keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on you. So tonight I want to bring my thoughts back to you again and again. When they slip away into worry, help me return gently to your presence. I think of your goodness, your faithfulness and everything you have done for me. I trust you more than my plans. May that trust become rest, and may my mind find repose in you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

For others

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

2 Corinthians 13:13

All the saints salute you.

Rest in peace. God is watching over you.
