Evening prayer

Day 6 · My burdens in your hands

Good evening. The day is ending. Breathe slowly, set aside what weighs on you and rest in God's presence.

Praise

Psalms 86:4-7

4Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. 5For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. 6Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. 7In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

The Word

1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Review of the day

Look back on your day with God, unhurried. What can you thank Him for? Is there something you did wrong that you want to place in His hands? What worries you about tomorrow? Tell Him in your own words.

Prayer

My burdens in your hands

Father who cares for me, I come to the end of the day with many worries. The bills, my health, work, the people I love: everything seems to grow bigger when night falls. You invite me to cast all my anxiety on you, and that is what I want to do now. I hand over to you, one by one, the things that trouble me. Some of them have no solution tonight, and it is not my job to solve them in bed. You can handle them. Help me not to pick them back up as soon as I turn off the light. Remind me that I matter to you, that I am not alone and that you keep watch while I sleep. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

2 Thessalonians 3:16

Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

Rest in peace. God is watching over you.
