Good morning. Before your day begins, take a pause. Breathe slowly and remember that God is here with you.

¹⁵Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. ¹⁶In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. ¹⁷For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. ¹⁸For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.

Matthew 5:14-16

¹⁴Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. ¹⁵Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. ¹⁶Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Prayer

Light wherever I am

God of light, you have called me to shine among others. Not with a light of my own, but with the light I receive from Christ. Today I want my life to be like a lamp burning at home, on the street and at work. May my good deeds, even small ones, lead others to give glory to you and not to me. Help me to be kind to those in a bad mood, honest when no one is watching and generous to those in need. Don't let me hide your light out of fear or comfort. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
