Morning prayer
Day 2 · My first word of the day
Good morning. Before your day begins, take a pause. Breathe slowly and remember that God is here with you.
Praise
Psalms 57:7-117My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. 8Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. 9I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. 10For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. 11Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.
The Word
Psalms 5:3My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
Prayer
My first word of the day
Lord, I want my first word today to be for you. I come before you just as I am: still sleepy, with half-sorted thoughts and a few worries. You hear my voice even when my words are poor. I place this whole day before you: the conversations, the tasks, the moments of waiting. Teach me to wait for you patiently, trusting that you answer in your own time and in your own way. Let me not leave the house without seeking you first, and let me come back to you many times throughout the day. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
For others

The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6:9-13Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
