Morning prayer

Day 21 · Peace that guards my heart

Good morning. Before your day begins, take a pause. Breathe slowly and remember that God is here with you.

Praise

Psalms 33:18-22

18Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; 19To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. 20Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. 21For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. 22Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

The Word

Philippians 4:6-7
6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Prayer

Peace that guards my heart

Father of peace, today I don't want to live in anxiety. I bring before you everything that troubles me and present it to you in prayer, with thanks for what you have already done. I tell you about my needs, my unfinished tasks and the people I'm worried about. You know every detail. Guard my heart and my thoughts with your peace, that peace which human reasoning cannot explain. When the worry returns during the day, help me turn it into prayer once again. May my first reaction to problems be to come to you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

May God be with you today.
