Morning prayer

Day 8 · Working for you

Good morning. Before your day begins, take a pause. Breathe slowly and remember that God is here with you.

Praise

³¹The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works. ³²He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke. ³³I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. ³⁴My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

The Word

Colossians 3:23-24

²³And what soever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; ²⁴Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Prayer

Working for you

Lord Jesus, today I want to do my work as if I were doing it for you. Whether in an office, at home, in the fields, at school or anywhere else, may I put effort and honesty into every task. Keep me from working only to be seen or to be applauded. When the task is boring or no one appreciates it, remind me that you see it and that it is you I serve. Give me strength to finish what I start and humility to ask for help when I need it. May my effort today be a simple offering to you, my Lord. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

Numbers 6:24-26

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

May God be with you today.
