Evening prayer

Day 17 · After a good day

Good evening. The day is ending. Breathe slowly, set aside what weighs on you and rest in God's presence.

Praise

Psalms 16:5-9

5The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. 6The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. 7I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. 8I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

The Word

James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Review of the day

Look back on your day with God, unhurried. What can you thank Him for? Is there something you did wrong that you want to place in His hands? What worries you about tomorrow? Tell Him in your own words.

Prayer

After a good day

Father of lights, today was a good day, and I want to acknowledge that every good thing comes from you. Thank you for the moments of joy, for the shared laughter, for what went well and for the peace I felt. I don't want to credit it all to myself or take it for granted. Every good gift comes down from your hands. Help me keep this day in my memory, so I can remember it when hard times come. You do not change: you are just as good on joyful days as on sad ones. May my gratitude turn into generosity toward others tomorrow. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

Romans 15:13

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Rest in peace. God is watching over you.
