Evening prayer

Day 4 · I let go of resentment

Good evening. The day is ending. Breathe slowly, set aside what weighs on you and rest in God's presence.

Praise

Psalms 37:7-9

7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

The Word

Mark 11:25
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Review of the day

Look back on your day with God, unhurried. What can you thank Him for? Is there something you did wrong that you want to place in His hands? What worries you about tomorrow? Tell Him in your own words.

Prayer

I let go of resentment

Lord Jesus, you forgave me far more than I could ever repay. Tonight I bring before you the person who hurt me today. What happened hurts, and I don't want to pretend it doesn't matter. But I don't want resentment to sleep with me either. I give you my desire for revenge and for having the last word. You teach me to forgive when I pray, if I hold anything against anyone. Help me do it, even if it is hard at first. Bless that person, heal what was broken between us and give me wisdom to know what to do tomorrow. Set my heart free so that I can rest. I ask this in your name. Amen.

For others

Think of someone who needs your prayer today and name them before God. You can write down your petitions in “My petitions”.

The Lord's Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Blessing

Hebrews 13:20-21

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Rest in peace. God is watching over you.
